The rules of the game...
Cask Hunters
Est. 2025
In the spirit of "it's better to be clear," we've established a few ground rules for you. This will be clear to everyone and prevent future misunderstandings.
Each Cask Hunters release is bottled in a standard 70cl whisky bottle and features a stylish, representative label with the handwritten "especially bottled for Arthur Vonk." Unless your name isn't Arthur Vonk, in which case we'll put your name on the label.
Reselling a previously purchased barrel is possible, but there are a few rules. We ask that you consult with us beforehand and will help you sell your share within the community. We also need to know who owns which share, as they are registered and that name will appear on the label. Selling without consultation is therefore not permitted; however, much is possible with consultation.
Each participant is free to share their share with friends. You are responsible for distributing any samples and the bottle(s) yourself. Two bottles with two different names are fine, but we need to know that your share is a shared share!
Each participant is free to do whatever he or she sees fit with bottled shares.
As a Cask Hunter, you have voting rights (VIP only) and can help determine how you want a whisky to be developed. Behind the scenes, we select the casks offered and predict how participants will vote. This is a work in progress. The initial choice will always be bottling now, bottling in 3-5 years, partial bottling, and/or re-racking. The choice with 51% or more of the votes is decisive. If that means bottling now, that's clear. With the 3-5 year choice, we monitor the whisky behind the scenes; if development is (too) rapid, we'll align with the action plan. If re-racking is chosen, we'll propose several cask types based on experience. Suggestions from the community are welcome. Here too, 51% of the votes is decisive.
If you've chosen VIP, a maximum of two samples are included (including shipping costs in the Netherlands and Germany). If we decide together that a third or even fourth sample is needed, that's possible. However, there will be an additional charge for the sample and shipping costs.
As a Cask Hunter, you understand and accept that not all choices in the community are always yours. This is inevitable and part of investing and making choices together.
As Cask Hunters, we'd love for you to bring us some great casks to share. The same applies to all casks: we want to taste them ourselves first, and the cask must fit the concept.
There's always a delay between the bottling order and the moment the bottles arrive at your home. This is unavoidable; for cost reasons, bottling and shipping from the UK must be combined to keep costs as low as possible. We appreciate your understanding!
